Antioch Fire Department to provide EMS in the village

The Antioch Fire Department recently shared an important update on their official website, announcing a major shift in emergency medical services for the village:

In response to the sudden and unexpected departure of the Antioch Rescue Squad, the Village of Antioch took decisive action during a special board meeting held on May 23rd. The village has now authorized the Antioch Fire Department to directly manage ambulance services for residents. As part of this transition, Superior Air Ground Ambulance Service, Inc. was awarded a six-month contract to provide two fully equipped ambulances along with four trained fire and EMS personnel, beginning June 1st.

This move came after the village board offered the Antioch Rescue Squad an extension of their contract for another six months at the May 20th meeting. However, the squad declined the offer, leaving a critical gap in emergency care that needed immediate attention.

Under this new arrangement, the Antioch Fire Department will now be responsible for both fire and paramedic services. In addition to their existing Advanced Life Support (ALS) engines, the department will deploy two ambulances—one stationed at Fire Station 1 on Holbek Drive and the other at Fire Station 2 on Deep Lake Road—to better serve the community’s needs.

This change marks a significant step forward in ensuring continuous and reliable emergency care for residents. The community is now relying on the dedicated team at the Antioch Fire Department to handle these critical responsibilities.
