Antioch Fire Department to provide EMS in the village

The Antioch Fire Department recently shared an important update on their official website:

By Fire Chief John Nixon

May 24, 2013

Following a special board meeting held on May 23rd, the Village of Antioch made the decision to take direct control of ambulance services for its residents through the Antioch Fire Department. As part of this transition, Superior Air Ground Ambulance Service, Inc. was awarded a six-month contract to supply two fully equipped ambulances along with four trained fire and EMS personnel starting June 1st. This move came after the sudden departure of the village’s previous EMS provider, the Antioch Rescue Squad. At a prior meeting on May 20th, the Rescue Squad declined the village’s offer to extend their contract for an additional six months. Now, the Antioch Fire Department will be responsible for both fire and paramedic services in the community. In addition to their existing Advanced Life Support (ALS) engines, the new fire department ambulances will be stationed at Fire Station 1 on Holbek Drive and Fire Station 2 on Deep Lake Road to better serve the residents of the village.

This development marks a significant shift in emergency response for the village, ensuring that local residents have reliable access to critical medical care. The transition has been carefully planned to maintain service quality during the changeover. Residents are encouraged to reach out with any questions or concerns about the new system. For more information, check the Antioch Fire Department's website or contact them directly.
