A multi-vehicle accident occurred on Glenview Road in the 2900 block around noon today, involving a rollover and entrapment. The Glenview Fire Department was called to the scene and responded with two engines, two ambulances, a truck, and Battalion 6. Additional units were requested upon arrival, including a third engine and two more ambulances. According to unconfirmed reports, a cellphone caller had previously reported an erratic driver, and it’s possible they witnessed the crash.
Two of the three vehicles involved were a sedan and an SUV. The sedan's passengers managed to exit on their own, but two individuals from the SUV required extrication. A Jeep SUV was found on top of one of the sedans, while a third vehicle was about 30 feet down the road with significant damage. Firefighters initiated two extrication operations—one to free the driver of the car beneath the SUV and another to rescue two patients trapped inside the SUV.
Six people were eventually transported by ambulance, with at least three in critical or serious condition. The extrications were completed within approximately 20 minutes. Firefighters worked quickly to stabilize the vehicles and carefully remove the injured. One patient was seen being packaged for transport while others were being freed from the wreckage.
The scene was chaotic, with debris scattered across the street and sidewalk. Firefighters used cutting tools to extract the trapped individuals, and once the patients were safely removed, they began cleaning up the equipment. The Cook County Sheriff’s Police took over the investigation after the fire department finished its work.
