Central Stickney has been recognized in previous posts here and here for their work during high-alarm incidents over the past year. Before switching to their current red-and-white color scheme, the department’s vehicles were all white. They previously operated with FMC and Howe apparatus, which can be seen in their historic gallery featuring equipment from the 1970s onward. Today, Central Stickney operates the first 75-foot tower ladder built by LTI, marking a significant piece of fire apparatus history. This small but dedicated department operates out of a single station staffed by part-time personnel. They are equipped with two ambulances, two Pierce Enforcer engines, a rare Simon-Duplex/LTI 75-foot rear-mount tower ladder, and a pickup used by their battalion chief. Located near Midway Airport, their district covers five square miles, including a section of I-55 (the Stevenson Expressway) and a large industrial area.
