In a recent report, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Agriculture revealed that the province has been actively promoting soil testing and formula fertilization techniques, helping 7.08 million mu of farmland receive a "nutritious meal" tailored to their specific needs. To date, Zhejiang has set up 450 demonstration bases covering 380,000 mu, significantly improving farming efficiency. It is estimated that these efforts will save farmers around 300 million yuan annually.
Lanxi City was the first pilot area for soil testing and fertilization in Zhejiang. The local agricultural department has established over 30 demonstration sites, with technical staff visiting villages to provide on-site guidance. This year, the city expects to expand the measured soil fertilization area to 100,000 mu. In Hangzhou, a three-year action plan for soil testing and formula fertilization has been launched, aiming to cover 1 million mu, reduce chemical fertilizer use by more than 15%, and cut fertilizer loss by over 20%.
Zhejiang has been expanding the application of soil testing and formula fertilization beyond rice paddies into orchards, drylands, and greenhouses. The province has also strengthened basic research and promotion of soil testing, rational fertilization, and formula fertilizer production. Recently, the Zhejiang Agriculture Department held a meeting in Shaoxing County to review progress in soil testing, formula fertilization, and winter green manure production, while reinforcing the public service system for these essential agricultural techniques. These initiatives are playing a crucial role in sustainable agriculture and improving long-term soil health.
