Recently, International Rectifier (IR) announced the launch of a new series of automotive MOSFETs (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor, metal-oxide-semiconductor-field-effect transistor).
The main characteristics of this series of MOSFET products are low RDS(on) characteristics, and can reach automotive power, and can be used for heavy-duty applications on automotive power supplies and internal combustion engines (ICEs), miniature hybrids, and full hybrid platforms.
The new MOSFET family of devices offers on-resistance as low as 2.6 mΩ at 55V, can withstand voltages from 40V to 100V, and covers previously released 75V products. Some of the higher voltage devices are ideal for use in The maximum rated current of the new 24V truck system in the D2Pak-7P and D2Pak packages is 240A and 195A, respectively.
IR's automotive MOSFETs use average testing of dynamic and static parts and 100% automatic wafer-level vision inspection as part of the automotive quality concept of zero defect in IR requirements. The AEC-Q101 standard requires on-resistance after 1,000 temperature cycling tests. The change cannot exceed 20%. However, after prolonged testing, IR's new AU material shows a maximum on-resistance change of less than 10% at 5,000 temperature cycles, reflecting the high strength and durability of this material. The new device complies with the AEC-Q101 standard and uses environmentally friendly materials that are neither lead-free nor in compliance with the RoHS directive.
