Israel Regentis Biomaterials has developed a cartilage repair hydrogel. This hydrogel is composed of polyvinyl alcohol and a certain proportion of fibrinogen. It is a biodegradable synthetic material. After being injected into the cartilage injury site, it can be condensated into a desired shape according to the need and induced by the released fibrinogen. The cartilage cells are regenerated and naturally fuse with the surrounding tissue.

Some of the other materials used today are ineffective, mainly due to excessive degradation. The hydrogel they developed has strong controllability by adjusting the ratio of polyvinyl alcohol to fibrinogen. When the proportion of polyvinyl alcohol is high, the biodegradation process can be slowed down, giving cells enough time to grow and heal.
