At noon on February 6th, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Committee of Datong and Mayor Yan Yanbo met with Cai Dong, General Manager of CNHTC Group, at the Yungang International Hotel. The meeting focused on the future development of CNHTC Group Datong Co., Ltd., as well as broader cooperation opportunities between Datong City and the group. Discussions covered strategic initiatives, potential joint projects, and ways to strengthen their ongoing collaboration. Vice Mayor Li Wuzhang and Ma Bin were also present during the meeting. According to the briefing, on November 17, 2008, the Datong Municipal Government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with CNHTC Group. This partnership laid the foundation for collaboration on key projects such as engines, superchargers, and vehicles. It marked a significant step forward in the city's reform strategy and project development. The following day, Sinotruk Group and Dazao Group signed a strategic reorganization and equity transfer agreement. Through this restructuring, Dazao Group gained access to critical transmission resources from China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, ensuring stable supply chains for essential components. Over the next five years, the majority of the heavy-duty gearbox demand for China National Heavy Duty Truck Group is expected to be met by the restructured Big Gear Company, with projections reaching over 150,000 units. This move paves the way for substantial growth for both Dazhong Company and China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, supporting the broader goal of strengthening the automotive industry in Shanxi and Shandong provinces. On the same day, Cai Dong and his team visited the site of the large-tooth relocation and expansion project, conducting an inspection and addressing various reorganization matters. During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on land use, plant construction, and product positioning related to the reorganization and relocation. Mayor Yan Yanbo emphasized that “Daguai” (Big Gear) is Datong’s “heroine,” having found a strong partner in CNHTC. He expressed confidence in its bright future and urged the company to strictly follow the technical requirements set by China National Heavy Duty Truck Group to ensure smooth integration. He also stated that the Datong Municipal Party Committee and the municipal government will continue to support the restructuring of “Big Gear” and create favorable conditions for its continued development. He welcomed further investment from Sinotruk Group and looked forward to even stronger and more fruitful cooperation in the future. Cai Dong thanked Datong City for its strong support and assistance. He noted that during the inspection, he was impressed with the current operational status of the Big Gear Company. He expressed confidence that it would soon become a vital part of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group. CNHTC also looks forward to expanding its collaboration with Datong City in the coming years.
