GIO South Africa invests more than 400 million yuan to build SUVs and pickup trucks

Following the construction of two overseas factories in Iran and Egypt, Gio will start building a third overseas factory. The reporter recently learned from Gio that Gio will build a KD (parts assembly) plant in South Africa in mid-2011. The project will be conducted in two phases, with a total investment of more than 400 million yuan.

Ji Shaosheng, general manager of Geo-Import and Exports, stated that the project is divided into two phases, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 units in the first phase and a 150,000-unit capacity increase in the second phase of construction in 2015. The total investment of the project is more than RMB 400 million. It takes the form of cooperation with local companies. Gio uses cash, technology and brand as the main investment methods. South Africa Redding Holdings invests mainly in cash. The new plant will be produced as suv and pickup trucks, and the first model will be the "good fortune" of pickup trucks that have sold well in South Africa. At present, the number of vehicles in South Africa has reached 10,000.
