As of late October, the team has successfully developed two innovative products: a portable drilling rig and an advanced dust cover for the mountain multi-purpose rig.
According to Hu Yong, the project leader responsible for developing the SCGC–type 1 portable drilling rig, this compact device weighs only 120 kilograms and can be disassembled into four parts, making it easy for two people to carry. During the Sichuan-Yunnan earthquake exploration project in a mudstone area, operators have been eager to use the portable rig to drill wells efficiently. Currently, the mechanics team is working around the clock, with a batch of these rigs expected to be completed by early November in preparation for upcoming exploration projects.
According to the construction unit, the rig’s small size and lightweight—about one-third the weight of a standard rig—make it ideal for operations in muddy or difficult terrain. It can also be used for well washing in other regions. Some industry experts have praised the successful development of the portable drilling rig as a revolutionary advancement in seismic drilling technology, highlighting its positive impact on improving exploration efficiency and operational flexibility.
Drilling in limestone areas has long posed challenges for exploration teams due to issues like excessive dust and environmental concerns. The mountain multi-purpose rig’s dust cover, developed by the Chongqing Manager’s Machine Repair Team, has significantly reduced the amount of dust generated during construction, meeting strict environmental and occupational health standards. This innovation not only improves working conditions but also demonstrates the company’s commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in the field.
