Sinopec's first isoprene rubber plant completed

China Drying News On January 29, Sinopec’s first isoprene rubber production plant was held in Yanshan Petrochemical. The commissioning of this device can take advantage of Yanshan Petrochemical's advantages in the field of synthetic rubber production and successfully fill the gap in Sinopec's isoprene rubber production.

This set of isoprene rubber production equipment is one of the “Tajudao Tackling Project” of Sinopec Science and Technology. Its design capacity is 30,000 tons/year, and is based on polymerized isoprene produced by Yanshan Petrochemical’s C5 separation device. The rare earth-catalyzed polymerization isoprene rubber technology and polymerization process developed by Yanshan Petrochemical and Yanshan Branch of Beihua Institute have independent intellectual property rights, and all equipments are manufactured domestically.

It is understood that isoprene rubber is known as "synthetic natural rubber," and can be used as a substitute for natural rubber. It is widely used in tires and other transportation and medical industries. It is the best substitute for natural rubber products in China. It is estimated that the market capacity of isoprene rubber in the tire industry in China will reach 400,000 tons per year, and the market prospect is broad.
