The 2009 Dakar Rally began and ended in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with the route passing through Chile. The event ran from January 3 to January 18, spanning 15 days and covering a total distance of 9,574 kilometers. Over 530 teams competed in this grueling race, which is often referred to as "Dancing with Death" due to its dangerous nature and high risk for participants. In the previous year, the rally had to be canceled just before it started due to security concerns in Lisbon, Portugal. As the first major motorsport event of 2009, the Dakar Rally captured global attention and excitement. Kumho Tire provided the ROAD VENTURE model for the competition, a tire engineered to deliver top performance on various surfaces including dry and wet roads, sand dunes, and muddy trails.
