The Ministry of Agriculture recently disclosed that during key seasons of spring ploughing and cultivation, agricultural departments at all levels quickly launched a 2012 special campaign to combat counterfeiting of agricultural materials, focused on seeds, pesticides, and fertilizers, strengthened source supervision, and comprehensively conducted law enforcement inspections and supervision and spot checks. In the first quarter, the national agricultural system mobilized 156,000 law enforcement and scientific and technological personnel, inspected 100,000 agricultural-funded enterprises, reorganized more than 20,000 agricultural materials markets, organized 9,689 on-site training and consulting activities, and seized 910,000 counterfeit agricultural materials. In kilograms, 2491 cases of counterfeit agricultural materials were investigated and prosecuted, 28 counterfeit and sold counters were destroyed, and 68.28 million yuan was directly saved for farmers.
