Yesterday, Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. (Dongfeng Group) and PSA Peugeot Citroën Group (PSA) signed the "Global Strategic Alliance Cooperation Agreement" in Beijing. This is the 26th after the two sides signed a capital increase and share agreement in Paris, based on capital cooperation to continue to deepen the global cooperation in the industrial and commercial fields.
If it is said that the establishment of a joint venture with Citroën in 1992 was the foundation for the establishment of a joint venture with PSA in 2002, it will be an upgraded version of the cooperation. Then, the conclusion of the global strategic alliance between Dongfeng Group and PSA means that the cooperation will enter the 3.0 era.
Xu Ping, chairman of Dongfeng Group, said at the signing ceremony that the two sides will deepen cooperation in various aspects such as international business, product and technology collaboration, procurement, and supplier system synergy. According to the agreement, both parties will jointly establish an export company responsible for the sales and service of DPCA and PSA products in the Asia Pacific region, and consider expanding the business beyond the Asia-Pacific market; jointly develop vehicle platforms, modules, and models for emerging markets. The development of passenger car parts; the use of their respective regions, national production capacity, commercial network advantages, to help the other side develop business.
In terms of commodity and technology collaboration, the two parties will set up new R&D centers to establish full-value R&D capabilities in product research, modeling, and industrialization in China, and strengthen collaboration with PSA R&D centers and Dongfeng R&D center to share resources. We will expand the scope of cooperation with Shenlong Motors to promote the sales of Peugeot, Citroen and Dongfeng brand cars of Shenlong Automobile to 1.5 million units by 2020, and each brand will develop and launch a new model at least once a year. In addition, the two sides will also strengthen cooperation in the core areas of new energy resources worldwide, as well as product platforms, powertrains, and parts and components.
In the procurement and supplier system collaboration, both parties plan to jointly plan, establish and improve the supplier system and the corresponding operating mechanism, and discuss the coordination of global supplier relationships. PSA will promote the application of Dongfeng Group and Shenlong Auto in reducing the cost of products in the global range of products to further reduce PSA procurement costs.
This is the first time that Chinese auto companies have established strategic alliances with multinational auto groups. In order to promote the operation of the global strategic alliance, Dongfeng Group and PSA will jointly establish a global strategic alliance cooperation committee. Before the end of this year, the relevant work goals and specific plans will be determined.
Philip Vallan, chairman of the PSA Management and Management Committee, said that today's China is the second largest market for PSA and will become the most important market by 2015. In the future, PSA will further strengthen its development in China and Southeast Asia.
