This afternoon, Karl Klotz witnessed a fire break out in Frankfort. Here’s what he had to report:
Frankfort, still operating under full emergency protocols on November 22, 2011, responded to a residence located at 20111 Rosewood Drive. Upon arrival, Frankfort Truck Company 2 discovered that a two-story, wooden-frame house was heavily engulfed in flames, primarily in the front section. It seemed the fire had originated in the garage area of the home. Firefighters initially focused on an aggressive external attack before entering the structure to ensure safety. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, although several cats were successfully rescued from the burning building. Emergency services were provided by companies dispatched from Frankfort, Matteson, and Manhattan.
Attached are several photos capturing different moments during the firefighting efforts. The first image shows the front of the house after firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control. Another photo highlights Frankfort Tower 5 performing ventilation at the rear of the house. Further images depict firefighters diligently working to extinguish remaining hotspots and another picture captures Frankfort Engine Company 1 actively cooling areas affected by the fire. There's also a shot of a firefighter from Frankfort Engine Company 3 carefully removing one of the rescued cats—though it briefly escaped before being caught again. Additional photos include scenes of firefighters from both Frankfort Engine Company 1 and Engine Company 3 tackling fires in the garage area, as well as an interior view looking down from the second-floor bedroom toward the garage. Other images feature firefighters from Matteson Engine Company 6 assisting in the rescue of yet another cat, and finally, one more photo showing a feline safely escorted outside by a member of the Frankfort Fire Department.
