This afternoon, Karl Klotz witnessed a significant fire break out in Frankfort. Here’s what he had to report:
Around 2 p.m., a two-story, wooden residence located at 20111 Rosewood Drive was engulfed in flames. Firefighters from Frankfort Truck Company 2 were the first to arrive on the scene. From their initial assessment, it appeared that the fire originated in the garage area of the house. With quick thinking, crews initiated an aggressive exterior firefighting strategy before venturing inside. Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident, but several cats were successfully rescued from the burning building. Firefighting units from Frankfort, Matteson, and Manhattan all responded to provide support.

The first image shows the front of the house after firefighters managed to knock down most of the flames. In another shot, you can see Frankfort Tower 5 team working on ventilating the rear of the structure to improve airflow and safety conditions for responders inside. One particularly touching moment involves a firefighter from Matteson Engine Company 6 carefully extracting yet another cat from the chaos, ensuring its safe escape.
