Of course, the increase in the number of cars is a major cause, but from another perspective, a large part of the number of traffic accidents is an accident that could have been avoided. Statistics show that at present, there are more than 18,500 children under the age of 14 who have died of traffic accidents every year in China. The mortality rate is 2.5 times that of Europe and 2.6 times that of the United States. Traffic accidents have become the first cause of death for children under the age of 14. Experts in the industry have appealed that parents must improve their driving safety awareness and the installation of child safety seats in vehicles is very important.

Parents' awareness of children's car safety is weak

The reporter learned from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center that the first national standard for the “Child restraint system for motor vehicle occupants” drafted by the Automotive Standardization Institute of the China Automotive Technology and Research Center will be officially implemented next year. The “Restriction System for Motor Vehicle Children’s Crew” mainly includes the fixing and connection method of the child seat in the vehicle, the structural requirements of the child seat, the performance of the child seat assembly and the test methods. This means that after the implementation of the standard, all passenger cars must be equipped with special interfaces for child seats. In other words, starting next year, domestic automobile manufacturers and seat manufacturers must provide seats with a dedicated interface.

According to statistics from Europe, in 22% of cases, serious injury can be completely avoided if there is a suitable protection system. For example, at present, in many countries such as Europe and the United States, new vehicles sold must have ISOFIX anchor points (ie, fixed interfaces) in the form of legal requirements. At present, in China, the child safety equipment for most models is limited to child safety locks and child safety seats, and there is very little assembly of ISOFIX fixed interfaces.
