"One-half-half-one-step" Alkali Process Developed Successfully

Recently, Nantong Bai County in Nanyang, Henan Province, has partnered with Inner Mongolia Yihua Group to jointly conduct technical research and successfully developed a world-leading "half-half-base one-step" alkali production process along with related equipment. This breakthrough is set to propel China's natural soda ash mining industry into a new era of optimized upgrades and sustainable growth. Currently, the traditional causticization process used in China’s natural soda ash industry is known for its high costs, excessive energy consumption, and significant environmental pollution. Internationally, this method is increasingly being phased out due to its inefficiency and negative ecological impact. The causticization process not only requires large quantities of quicklime but also generates substantial amounts of alkaline solid waste, such as caustic sludge, which often contaminates nearby water sources and poses serious environmental risks. The newly developed "half-half-base one-step" process eliminates the causticization step entirely. It features independently designed and manufactured large-scale, energy-efficient, and eco-friendly equipment, including its own back-alkali calcining furnace and natural circulation external cooling carbonization tower. This innovative approach uses no quicklime and produces no caustic sludge, turning any solid waste generated during production into valuable by-products. Additionally, the system enables closed-loop wastewater recycling, achieving zero emissions. By streamlining the production flow, it significantly reduces energy consumption and lowers the cost per ton of soda ash by approximately 300 yuan. This advancement marks a major leap forward in making the natural alkali industry more sustainable, efficient, and environmentally friendly.
